This Position:

As the Construction Staff Accountant working in our Construction division, you will handle a multitude of duties surrounding various phases of construction projects, all with a focus on accounting and especially on accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Working closely with the CFO, you will work with project management staff to generate draw requests, analyze job costs estimates, create construction budgets, and assist with purchasing and contract negotiations. Due to the nature of this position, previous experience with accounting in a construction-related field is required.

  • Educated and Experienced: You have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or and/or 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience; previous experience in job cost accounting and financial reporting; 2-3 years of construction management, general contracting, or subcontractor industry experience; and an understanding of commercial insurance policies.

You Will:

  • Oversee various accounting, purchasing, and administrative functions, including but not limited to:
    • Assist in establishing construction budgets.
    • Establish and administer banking transactions and provide approved financial information to lenders.
    • Prepare draw requests, invoices, account statements, reports, and accounts payable checks.
    • Codes, compiles, and inputs financial information or data to general ledger accounts.
    • Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities and capital, and prepare financial statements and other financial reports.
    • Participate in recruitment, negotiations, and selections of contractors and products.
    • Coordinate with material and supply chain vendors to request bid proposals.
    • Participate in monitoring contracted costs within established guidelines.
    • Prepare construction contracts, develop work orders, and oversee renewal of business licenses.
    • Collect, coordinate, and code invoices and contracts.
    • Assist in compiling project turnover documents including facility documentation, close-out warranties, O&M Manuals, asset tracking, and other pertinent information.
